“Even in the East, peace is possible! Let us believe this! And let us work for it, without delegating it to others.”

Pope Francis spoke those words to several victims of violence who hail from the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo. 

The encounter formed the core of the Pope's second day in the DRC, and was preceded by the celebration of Mass for over a million people and followed by a meeting with members of various charities active in the country.
