Special Arrangements for Parish Liturgies from
22nd March through to Holy Week and Easter
For the spiritual benefit of the faithful, and in cooperation with the community’s ongoing infection prevention measures, the Diocese is implementing the following, until further notice:
1. Distribution of Holy Communion after live Sunday Mass broadcast
On 22nd March, 29th March, 5th April, and 12th April, after the faithful have finished watching the live Sunday Mass broadcast at home, those who are properly disposed may go to their nearby parish church during the following time slots to receive Holy Communion:
˙After the 09:15 Cantonese Broadcast Mass, ministers will distribute Holy Communion from 10:30 to 10:45 at the entrance of the following nine parish churches: Sé Cathedral, S. Lazarus, S. Anthony, S. Lawrence, Our Lady of Fatima, S. Francis Xavier Mong-Ha, S. Joseph the Worker, Carmel Taipa and S. Francis Xavier Coloane.
˙After the 10:00 Filipino Broadcast Mass, ministers will distribute Holy Communion from 11:15 to 11:30 at the entrance of the following nine churches: Sé Cathedral, S. Lazarus, S. Anthony, S. Lawrence, Our Lady of Fatima, S. Francis Xavier Mong-Ha, S. Joseph the Worker, Carmel Taipa and S. Augustine.
˙After the 11:00 Portuguese Broadcast Mass, ministers will distribute Holy Communion from 12:15 to 12:30 at the entrance of the following four parish churches: Sé Cathedral, S. Lawrence, S. Anthony and Carmel Taipa.
˙After the 17:00 English Broadcast Mass, ministers will distribute Holy Communion from 18:15 to 18:30 at the entrance of the following ten churches: Sé Cathedral, S. Lazarus, S. Anthony, S. Lawrence, Our Lady of Fatima, S. Francis Xavier Mong-Ha, S. Joseph the Worker, Carmel Taipa, S. Francis Xavier Coloane and S. Augustine.
2. Chrism Mass this year (8th April 2020, 18:00) will also not be open to the public but will be broadcast live online instead. There will be no distribution of Holy Communion after the live broadcast.
3. Maundy Thursday, Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper, 9th April, 20:00

After the live broadcast of the above Masses, ministers will distribute Holy Communion from 21:30 to 21:45 at the entrance of the following nine parish churches: Sé Cathedral, S. Lazarus, S. Anthony, S. Lawrence, Our Lady of Fatima, S. Francis Xavier Mong-Ha, S. Joseph the Worker, Carmel Taipa and S. Francis Xavier Coloane.
4. Good Friday, Celebration of the Lord’s Passion, 10th April, 15:00

After the live broadcast of the above liturgies, ministers will distribute Holy Communion from 16:30 to 16:45 at the entrance of the following nine parish churches: Sé Cathedral, S. Lazarus, S. Anthony, S. Lawrence, Our Lady of Fatima, S. Francis Xavier Mong-Ha, S. Joseph the Worker, Carmel Taipa and S. Francis Xavier Coloane.
5. Holy Saturday, Easter Vigil, 11th April, 20:00

After the live broadcast of the above Masses, ministers will distribute Holy Communion from 21:30 to 21:45 at the entrance of the following nine parish churches: Sé Cathedral, S. Lazarus, S. Anthony, S. Lawrence, Our Lady of Fatima, S. Francis Xavier Mong-Ha, S. Joseph the Worker, Carmel Taipa and S. Francis Coloane.
6. Weekday Masses will continue to be open to the public as usual.
7. Each parish will arrange the time and venue for the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession), especially for the faithful who are preparing to receive Holy Communion on Sundays.
8. In addition to dispensing the faithful from Sunday obligation in the Diocese of Macau, Bishop Stephen LEE has also decreed that the faithful are dispensed from this year's Easter duty to make Confession and receive Communion (Code of Canon Law 920), but the faithful are strongly advised to watch the live broadcast liturgies and to take advantage of the special arrangements outlined above to go to confession and receive Holy Communion whenever possible.
9. While carrying out the special arrangements outlined above, please continue to follow strictly the infection prevention guidelines and the instructions of parish staff, wear masks, body temperature checks, use sanitizers, separate seating, etc.
